  • Ongoing, Full-Time Position (Up to 76 fortnightly hours).

  • $94,409 per annum pro rata + Super + Salary Packaging* (to increase your take home pay).

  • Located in Marion. 

 

The Senior Family and Relationship Counselor supports individuals, couples, and families in overcoming challenges and building positive and healthier relationships. In this role, the counsellor works with all family members, with the primary focus on ensuring the safety and welfare of the children. This role involves addressing complex relationship and social issues including parenting struggles, relationship troubles, domestic violence, mental health concerns, substance abuse, gambling problems, childhood trauma and abuse.

Who we are looking for 

To be successful in this role you will need: 

  • Tertiary qualification (AQF level 8) in social work, psychology, counselling or related discipline. 

  • Extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families in a therapeutic context. 

  • Proven experience in providing counselling to those affected by Family and Domestic Violence including children and those using violence in relationships.

 

It would be a bonus if you have: 

  • A post graduate (AQF level 9) qualification in social work, psychology or counselling.  

  • Proven experience facilitating therapeutic Family and Domestic Violence behaviour change groups.  

 

What you will be doing  

  • Delivering high-quality counseling and group interventions tailored to the diverse needs of individuals, groups, and communities, with a focus on addressing complex case matters.

  • Utilizing the Detection of Overall Risk Screen (DOORS) tool to conduct holistic screening and risk assessments, ensuring client safety.

  • Implementing effective interventions through comprehensive case formulation, planning, review, and closure processes, along with appropriate reporting and referrals.

  • Collaborating with other services to provide coordinated case management support that is tailored to meet the complex needs of clients.

  • Engaging with clients affected by family violence, including children who witness or experience it, and support those exhibiting violent behaviors in relationships to bring about positive change.

  • Taking initiative in tasks such as accurate record keeping, provision of education and community information, participation in case conferences, and possessing thorough knowledge of local service and referral options.

  • Actively participate in supervision and provide practice supervision to students and employees, integrating theory into practice.

  • Collaborate with others to provide culturally relevant services at our organization and incorporate cultural considerations into counseling practice.

  • Adhere to Information Sharing Guidelines (ISG) and Family Safety Framework (FSF) principles regarding confidentiality.
