Senior Practitioner - Psychologists and Mental Health Social Workers

  • $97,950 FTE+ Super + Salary Packaging* (to increase your take home pay)

The Supporting Emotional Wellness in Aged Care (SEW) program, provides free, onsite mental health services for residents of Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) experiencing, or at risk of developing, mild to severe mental health conditions.

Who we are looking for 

The successful candidate will be delivering 1:1 and or group sessions to support the SEW residents with mild to severe mental health conditions within a stepped care framework.

To be successful in this role you will have at least one of the following: 

  • A tertiary qualification (AQF level 7) in Social Work and registration as a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker with AASW; or
  • Psychology, and General registration as a Psychologist with APHRA
  • Significant experience working with individuals, couples or families in a therapeutic context.

It would be a bonus if you have: 

  • Experience working in Aged care, Mental Health or Medical settings
  • Qualifications in Art Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy or Music Therapy
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in dementia care and assessment
  • Experience in delivering mental health training to clinical staff
  • Experience in delivering group therapy 

 

What you will be doing  

  • Deliver high-quality services to residents which respond to the needs of a diverse range of groups and communities.
  • Provide targeted services for residents at risk or who have a former or new diagnosis of mild to moderate and severe mental health conditions.
  • Undertake a comprehensive screening and risk assessment of issues that relate to safety and well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with RACFs and other relevant stakeholders to promote and facilitate residents’ access to primary mental health care services, including through the provision of support to assist RACF staff to recognise and respond to mental health conditions and provide effective clinical management.
  • Deliver quality mental health care working co-operatively within a multi-disciplinary team and with our service partners to maximise opportunities to identify innovative, coordinated solutions for residents.
