  • Part-Time (60.8 fortnightly hours), Fixed Term until 31.12.2026
  • $97,950 FTE + Super + Salary Packaging* (to increase your take home pay)

Be a part of developing and building an exciting new service for South Australians who are donor conceived people, donors and recipient parents affected by recent legislation changes and who access the Donor Conception Register.

Who we are looking for 

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced professional with strong trauma-informed counselling and casework skills, capable of providing high-quality support to individuals affected by donor conception and legislative changes. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of risk assessment and case planning, and the ability to provide clinical supervision, training, and collaborative case management within a multidisciplinary team.

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • A tertiary qualification (AQF level 8) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or Mental Health and a significant level of specialized skills, experience, and expertise. 
  • Experience in program development, co-ordination, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience in working with clients with complex needs and diverse family structures.
  • Experience in working within a trauma informed framework. 

It would be a bonus if you have: 

  • Experience in working in the donor conception or post adoption area, and in search and contact work.
  • Experience in providing therapeutic individual and group counselling. 

 

What you will be doing  

  • Provide high-quality short-to medium-term trauma-informed support to address the impacts associated with the donor conception and changes to legislation associated with removal of donor anonymity.  
  • Ensure the provision of high quality counselling and casework services to clients of the DCRSS.
  • Promote client safety, effective case planning, review and referral through universal, holistic screening and risk assessment utilising the Detection of Overall Risk Screen (DOORS), Kessler 10 and Work Social Adjustment Scale.  
  • Undertake various tasks, including family searching and contact, counselling and casework, and facilitating therapeutic and educational groups.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Donor Conception Register procedures, guidelines and/or statutory requirements relevant to the organisation and to the specific work in the donor conception area.
