Relationships Australia South Australia (RASA) is committed to providing learning opportunities for students in the fields of practice available through the counselling, mediation, group, community, education and training work of RASA.
RASA schedules placements that are meaningful and truly interesting. You might be asked to help organise a community event, to observe work with clients, or to write a publication for new clients. Placement times and lengths can be negotiated to suit schedules and course requirements.
What we require of students
You need to be enrolled in either a University, Technical and Further Education (TAFE) or Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The level of study may vary from Cert III to a Post Graduate qualification.
A National Police Clearance and Working With Children Check is mandatory before the placement can begin. You will be asked to supply the screening certificates, which you may be able to obtain through your education provider. If your education provider is unable to process the clearances, RASA will do this for you but will ask to recuperate the costs.
The services provided at RASA sites mean that our students on placement need to be vaccinated and you will need to provide your COVID-19 vaccination certificate as part of our pre-employment checks. If you can’t comply, you are encouraged to have a confidential conversation with Holly Longford about your individual circumstances.
What we cannot provide
We are not able to provide counselling placements that include unsupervised counselling sessions with clients.
To apply
To be considered for a placement, please attach:
- your resume
- a cover letter expressing your interest
- any clearance certificates you may have (such as DCSI or National Police Clearances)
- a completed additional information form
In your cover letter, we would like to hear about your studies, your career ambitions, your availability and what you hope to achieve from your placement with RASA.
Please ensure you include any placement requirements you may have, such as tasks or amount of time.
What happens next
If you have been successful in being considered for a placement, RASA will contact you to arrange a time to speak and discuss a possible placement.
Enquiries can be asked of Holly Longford via email to StudentPlacements@rasa.org.au
